RESPONSIBILITY AT MOONBOON

We aren't perfect but we are committed to being the best and most responsible version of ourselves that we can be.

Caring about the planet is ingrained in our identity at Moonboon. More so, it’s a personal matter for every single one of us at Moonboon and impacts our day-to-day activities.

With today’s environmental challenges and the contribution of the textile industry to those challenges, we must collectively rethink production and consumption of textiles. Our goal is to minimize our ecological footprint and actively contribute to creating a better future. To achieve this, we have introduced the triangle of fair production, which encompasses fair production practices, modern processes, and the use of natural, high-quality materials in our products, wherever possible.

In our efforts to care for the environment we have achieved being certified as a GOTS company, which we are very proud of. A GOTS certification means we have committed to using organic materials, wherever possible, that are produced under safe and responsible working conditions from start to finish of our production cycle.

NATURAL AND HIGH QUALITY MATERIALS

Faced with today's challenges, the textile industry needs to act in order to reduce its harmful impact on the planet. Natural high-quality materials, such as organic fibres, play multifaceted roles in creating an industry that is actively working on lowering its environmental impact wherever possible, and priorities human health over short term profit.

Therefore we find it of utmost importance that our products use materials that are durable, organic and high quality, that are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides (such as insecticides), or herbicides and GMOs (Genetic Modified Organisms) according to the principles of organic agriculture.

MODERN PROCESSES

We focus on implementing modern processes across all stages of production. From manufacturing and packing to labelling and distribution, all of our textiles are made from at least 70% certified organic fibers.

From the organic fibre cultivation, the initial production is covered by any international or national organic farming standard that is approved in the IFOAM Family of Standards. Every step in the production and manufacturing of these organic textiles is guided by our commitment to caring for the environment, placing emphasis on the use of GOTS approved colorants, tracking our environment management, such as wastewater treatment and making sure no chemicals or pesticides are used on the fibres.

FAIR PRODUCTION

At our company, fair production is a cornerstone of our values, encompassing our commitment to both environmental stewardship and the well-being of individuals. We prioritize creating working conditions that align with leading social standards and ensure equivalent treatment for workers.

With care for the environment, we have implemented a comprehensive social compliance management system for ourselves and our suppliers, guaranteeing that all social criteria are met.

The GOTS social standard that we follow at Moonboon encompasses a variety of criteria including, but not limited to employment being freely chosen, child labor, harassment and discrimination not being tolerated, occupational health being guaranteed and a fair and healthy work-life balance being valued.

Then there are a few things you need to know. We at Moonboon support the circular economy and in order to make your second-hand baby hammock or cradle safe again, have created refurb kits.

The essential refurb kit includes a spring and two carabiners with plastic parts - the parts of your pre-loved product that should always be replaced to ensure that your baby sleeps safe and sound.

The premium refurb kit makes your used hammock or cradle look like new again. It includes not only the safety essentials, but also a new mattress, a mattress protector and a fitted sheet to ensure that your little one sleeps in a clean and refreshed space.

SUPPORT THE FIGHT AGAINST CHILDHOOD CANCER

We support the Danish Cancer Society (Kræftens Bekæmpelse) and their campaign Kræft Er Ikke For Børn ('cancer is not for children’).

Cancer is a disease that affects way too many people every day, in different and heartbreaking ways, especially when children are involved. We believe that it is crucial that we fight this disease together and have therefore partnered up with the Danish Cancer Society to raise money for research, prevention and care of affected families.

You can help make a difference by donating to the Danish Cancer Society and their campaign ‘Cancer Is Not For Children’ in our checkout or through the button below. Every cent can make a difference as 100% of the proceeds will be donated.

Let’s make a difference together!

OUR RESPONSIBILITY ACHIEVEMENTS

We are very proud to have our efforts be recognised and as a result be certified by GOTS and have many of our products carry the GOTS and OCS labels.

WHAT IS GOTS?

GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard and represents the world's leading standard of organic fibres. This ensures that all suppliers along the supply chain of a product guarantee excellent work conditions and use organic materials, where possible.

GOTS-certified products are held to the very highest standards of responsibility, respect for the environment and people, so you can feel reassured that your Moonboon product has been produced without the use of harmful chemicals or pesticides.

In addition to our GOTS-certified products, we are proud to say that Moonboon as company has been inspected, assessed and certified in accordance with GOTS requirements. The standard contains both social and environmental criteria.

WHAT IS OCS?

Moonboon is certified to the Organic Cotton Standard, which certifies and tracks organically grown cotton from the source to final product.

The Organic Content Standard (OCS) is a voluntary global standard that applies to all textile manufacturing processes and sets the criteria for third-party certification of organic materials and chain of custody.
